My stay at Hotel Austur was quite mixed. The views of the surrounding mountains were stunning, but the hotel itself felt lacking in character and charm. The rooms were new and clean, but I encountered several minor inconveniences that detracted from the experience.
Rooms
5.0
The rooms were brand new and super clean, but I had issues with the room door sticking. that made accessing my room a bit frustrating.
Service
5.0
The service was decent. especially at the reception, where I found the staff friendly. However, there were moments that made me feel like I was just in a place to lay my head.
Location
5.0
The location offered fantastic mountain views, which was a major highlight. being outside of the peak summer tourist season made it even more enjoyable.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was quite underwhelming. I found the meals ordinary at best, with the mushroom soup being thin and basic and the main chicken dish rather dry.

The facilities felt basic. there was a real lack of personal touches that would have made my stay more enjoyable.

My stay at Hotel Austur was pretty underwhelming. The location offers a fantastic mountain view, which is a plus, but the hotel itself felt like a lifeless conversion from an office space. The breakfast was lackluster, and the room had a few quirks that made things a bit frustrating.
Rooms
5.0
The room was brand new and super clean, but tiny. I struggled with a door that kept getting stuck, which was annoying. Not having electric points near the bed was a bummer too.
Service

The girl at the reception was friendly, and she was especially helpful when the fire alarm went off, but overall the service didn't stand out much.
Location

The location is really nice, with fantastic mountain views, especially outside of peak summer tourist season, which was great for my experience.
Dining

Breakfast was disappointing—it felt like the leanest meal we've had on this trip. The soup was basic, and the other food options weren't much better; they lacked variety and taste.
Facilities

Honestly, the facilities were quite simple and felt a bit bare-bones. There wasn’t a lot of effort to make the place more inviting.

My stay at Hotel Austur was quite mixed. The location offered fantastic mountain views, which I truly enjoyed. However, the hotel felt more like a converted business center lacking charm, and I encountered multiple issues with my room. Overall, it was a basic place to rest my head, but I expected more from my experience.

My stay at Hotel Austur was a mixed bag. While my room was spacious and clean, the overall vibe of the hotel felt quite sterile and lacking any charm. The food was disappointing, which was surprising given Iceland's reputation for good cuisine. However, the location did offer some fantastic mountain views that made up for some shortcomings.
Rooms
5.0
My room was big and clean, which I appreciated. However, the door often got stuck, making it frustrating to enter.
Service

The reception staff were friendly enough, especially when the fire alarm went off. It was a relief to have someone there to help in that situation.

Dining

Unfortunately, the dining was a letdown. The breakfast lacked variety and was quite basic, and the mushroom soup and chicken were subpar, not what I expected.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities felt more like a converted business space than a hotel, lacking character. The bathroom design was questionable, as the wet room setup flooded the area near the door.

Hotel Austur served its purpose as a place to sleep, but I wasn't impressed overall. The rooms were big and clean, which was a positive, but the dining experience left much to be desired. The service was decent during a fire alarm incident, but the atmosphere felt lackluster and devoid of charm.
